Job Description

The Student Enrollment Support Specialist works with all aspects of incoming contact center operations, and must be familiar with a variety of the IEC’s policies, practices and procedures. This position works with both prospective and current UIU students to reach enrollment objectives and foster student success. The specialist will interpret and effectively explain procedures and policies, making appropriate decisions within them. The specialist serves as the front line point of contact with external stakeholders and as such must have exemplary interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties Summary

1. Respond promptly to all student requests for information via phone, email or web/e-forms.
2. Provide accurate answers to questions pertaining to the University, its policies and procedures.
3. Serve as the switchboard for the entire University.
4. Serve as the first point of contact for prospective students who contact the University. Must have foundational and current knowledge of all programs and learning experiences offered at UIU.
5. Provide quality customer service to effectively and professionally resolve student concerns/complaints.
6. Accurately use data processing systems or other mechanisms for tracking purposes.
7. Maintain current knowledge of Upper Iowa University’s web site.
8. Collaborate with other areas to provide optimal enrollment services to students.
9. Comply with appropriate federal/state regulations and policies.
10. Professionally represents Upper Iowa University to internal and external constituents, including students, prospective students, companies, organizations, faculty, and UIU centers and locations.
11. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions:
1. Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer, telephone, and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
3. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately
4. Ability to demonstrate professional behavior with all University constituents
5. Ability to work in a highly productive team that is positive and cooperative in a supportive environment.
6. Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
7. Ability to maintain records accurately
8. Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining quality outputs
9. Ability to give attention to detail
10. Ability to work flexible hours covering extended operating hours (6 a.m. -11 p.m.)

Required Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree required.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Positive attitude for quality student/customer service.
4. Strong working knowledge of Email, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is needed.
5. Detail oriented.
6. Must have strong organizational skills.
7. Ability to travel which may include overnight stays on occasions.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
2. Prior experience in recruiting.
3. Prior experience in telecommunications/e-communications.

Physical Demands

1. Sit at desk for long periods of time.
2. Work with telephone, personal computer, keyboard and mouse for long periods of time.
3. Standing, reaching and bending to access files.
4. Walk across campus, ascend and descend stairs to attend meetings
5. Lift up to 30 pounds delivering materials, moving boxes of forms, etc.
6. Indoors 95%.
