Job Description

The Admissions Counselor – Dual Enrollment is a member of the Admissions Office and reports directly to the Executive Director of Admissions.

The purpose of the Admissions Counselor – Dual Enrollment is to assist the Executive Director of Admissions in the operational aspects of recruiting and admitting dual enrollment students.

Essential Duties Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out a comprehensive plan to creatively manage the recruitment of dual enrollment students to the Fayette campus.
• Travel to high school visits and dual enrollment events throughout Iowa and bordering states to represent Upper Iowa University to prospective students and families.
• Manage a territory and implement appropriate elements of the overall UIU recruitment plan, counseling prospective students regarding the admissions process and application process.
• Develop strong working relationships with dual enrollment coordinators, educational agencies, and other constituencies that provide services to prospective students.
• Report regularly to the Executive Director of Admissions regarding scheduled activities and progress toward performance measures.
• Participate in training programs to develop professionally and become fully informed about the University and its recruiting and admissions strategies.
• Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports on all recruitment activities.
• Represent the University on appropriate committees, boards, or in community organizations.
• Assist with freshman and transfer recruiting as needed.
• Work collaboratively and collegially with faculty and staff.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Knowledge of the higher education market is critical.
• Familiarity with dual enrollment requirements by state.
• Excellent communication skills, especially for the purpose of working in a team environment to solve problems and provide support and customer service to all constituencies.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks without constant supervision.
• Ability to understand and utilize data and statistics.
• Ability to travel extensively to perform the responsibilities of the position. Possess a driver’s license and motor vehicle record acceptable by the University.
• High level of initiative, resourcefulness and independence.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous college admissions experience strong preferred, especially in the recruitment of dual enrollment students.
