Job Description

The Mail Processing Specialist in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Data Processing is responsible for processing all mail. This entails the routing all incoming mail to appropriate parties and processing outgoing mail. The work is time sensitive. Supports the mission and vision of the University. Perform administrative duties and procedures as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures.

Essential Duties Summary

1. Open, date stamp and route all incoming mail to appropriate teams/departments.
2. Monitor automated letter and mailing label queues, merge data, print letters and labels.
3. Fulfill information requests.
4. Fulfill outbound direct marketing per the communication plan.
5. Contributes to the effective operation of the Student Enrollment Center.
6. Be cross-trained on data processing and document processing specialist to provide backup when needed.
7. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development conferences/courses and attending training and/or courses as directed by Assistant Director of Data Processing.
8. Provides superior student/customer service to internal and external audiences.
9. Professionally represents Upper Iowa University to internal and external constituents, including students, prospective students, companies, organizations, faculty, and UIU centers and locations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

1. High School Diploma required.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Positive attitude for quality student/customer service.
4. Strong working knowledge of Email, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is needed.
5. Detail oriented.
6. Must have strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Associates Degree in related field.

Physical Demands

1. Sit at desk for long periods of time.
2. Work with personal computer, keyboard and mouse for long periods of time.
3. Standing, reaching and bending to access files.
4. Walk across campus, ascend and descend stairs to attend meetings.
5. Lift up to 30 pounds delivering materials, moving boxes of forms, etc.
6. Indoors 95%.
